The Tower Globe Box
2 1/4" x 1 3/8" x 3 3/4", and the globe is 5/8" in diameter
Four celestial maps in three portfolios in a tower slipcase, topped
with a tiny celestial globe. The map portfolios and the
slipcase are bound in black and cream French marbled paper. The first
portfolio contains
Planispheres
of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres (18th century)
and
Les
Etoiles Fixes (J. Andriveas-Goujon, 1859). The
second portfolio contains
Planisphere
Celeste (Frederik de Wit, 17th century).and the third
contains
The Geocentric
Solar System (Bartelomeo Velho) and a copy of the Corelli
gores with which the globe on the top of the case is covered.
The celestial globe on the top snaps into place with an embedded magnet.
