Punch and Judy Dictionary
2 1/2 ' x 1 3/4"
88 pages
As street theater, Punch and Judy has lasted 350 years, and his story
hasn't changed much. He takes on the world with a big stick and a
cheerfuly anarchic attitude, knocking down everyone who tries to
contain him, starting with his wife and ending with the devil himself.
This little book contains definitions and illustrations of
all the elements, characters, and history of Mr. Punch, along with a
series of scenes of a typical Punch and Judy show. There's even a tiny
cut-out Victorian Punch and Judy theater in the back..
Bound in Mohawk superfine text, with a paper label affixed to
the spine, and a dust jacket in the red and white stripes of the
traditional British seaside Punch and Judy booth. Toby the
Dog peeks out from behind the curtain on the back.
